CULTIVATING MORE BEAUTY
Are you consciously bringing beauty into your life?
And if so, how? I believe beauty is a prerequisite to living a full and vibrant life. Do you agree? When I think of what would make or makes me come alive, this is what I see—our depth, a soulful partnership, deeply intimate/exciting lovemaking, a fulfilling career, a cozy and safe home, a wholesome and rich family life, treasured friendships, expansive community, moments filled heartfelt fun/laughter, an invitation to see things differently, to grow, to thrive. I see beauty in every aspect of my life. Even when it feels messy. There’s beauty in the messiness, too. Beauty is something that comes from within. Within our souls. And our souls love and crave beauty—cultivating, creating, living, appreciating, and connecting to beauty. When we look outside of what is already there, we miss the beauty in the moment/connection.
I love what John O’Donohue says in his book(Beauty:The Invisible Embrace):
“Always keep something
beautiful in your mind.”
This is so powerful. Nothing can be ugly when you have something beautiful in your mind.
You can see the beauty in everything, especially during hard times.
Cultivating beauty becomes a practice. Beauty is so much more.
I think of my connections to special people in my life, nuanced experiences that helped shape who I am, deep intimacy and love, breathtaking places I have seen and have yet to see, events that moved me, a full range of emotions, presence, desire, sensations, laughter, getting to know myself and others more deeply, challenges and opportunities that helped me grow.
Intense passion for something interesting and new, the evolutions of those explorations, curiosity, learning, a vibe or feeling that fills me with absolute joy or awe, the reactions of my loved ones to a sweet gesture/moment, a late night full of vibrant and mesmerizing conversation that satisfies my soul, an unrelenting grit and resilience that keeps me from giving up, a growing strength from within that radiates happiness, a thoughtfulness that surprises and envelops people in profound love.
Confronting your demons or unresolved emotions, forgiving yourself and others, nursing those deep core wounds, seeing the most beautiful things in others that they have yet to see, showing up for yourself and others in ways you never expected and consistently doing it again and again, loving who you truly are as you uncover who that is moment to moment, opening your heart even more because you know that the pain is also beautiful and has the ability to open you up in ways you never could have imagined.
Everything we seek in life includes an element of beauty. I want to continue to see the beauty in everything.
Experiencing beauty in our everyday lives creates a life worth living.
